The challenge

Every year since 2017, HORNBACH organizes De Beste Klusser van Nederland (The Best Handyman of the Netherlands), in which the best handymen in the country compete to win the Golden Hammer. This is how HORNBACH aims to position itself as the best hardware store in the Netherlands. As of 2021, HORNBACH and IDTV+ have joined forces to make this already successful format even stronger and more engaging.

The solution

A new video format for the campaign, as well as a grand finale; the ideal opportunity for IDTV+ to combine our experience as TV makers with our knowledge as an online content & experience agency. We activated the handymen through print, radio, online, out of home and social media, and as a promoter, we engaged a national celebrity who fits well with the target audience and who playfully represents our client’s brand: Maxim Hartman.

Through various appeals and promos, we worked toward the spectacular conclusion; a finale, broadcast on Veronica, with four DIY heroes competing against each other. Under the watchful eye of three judges, they worked on one big final project that showcased their creativity, qualities and technical savvy.

The result

The result was an exciting 2022 finale that could be viewed on Veronica; with 245,000 viewers, truly a success. In 2023, IDTV+ is also working on a new concept to make De Beste Klusser van Nederland even more successful.
